Based on the request from a loyal supporter and listener of my podcast, Michelle Ng, I'm going to expand upon Depth Hypnosis and Applied Shamanic Counseling in today's episode. And to help further root this, I'll also share a couple of experiences from my client practice.
When I was organizing my thoughts on how I wanted to approach this episode, I quickly realized how much there is to share! So, in the spirit of providing you bite-size insights for your soul, I decided to lead with an overview. Then I'll follow up with a series of episodes for you to further discover this healing modality with deeper dives, FAQs, and ways to tell if this healing is for you. The series builds upon each other while each episode can also stand on its own. So if you listen in random order - you're taken care of. Let's begin.
Today, people commonly feel disconnected, numb, or even stuck in their lives. This stuck feeling may look like imposter syndrome, depression, anxiety, addictions, chronic fatigue - shall I continue? You get the idea and probably have or are experiencing these now.
I invite you to consider looking at these symptoms as a teacher. And by viewing them as teachers, they lead you to imbalances that need healing.
And you probably want a healing approach where you do not re-live the trauma. That's where Depth Hypnosis and Applied Shamanic Counseling come in. This healing modality brings compassion and light to remedy and restore imbalances, so you return more empowered and aligned with yourself.
If you're tracking with what I've said so far, that may feel euphoric and inviting. Or maybe it's too abstract, and you're confused. Either case, let's continue and explore this healing further.
Depth Hypnosis
Depth Hypnosis is a practical healing practice that helps you rapidly work through issues to access profound learnings with lasting results. With this approach, you're at the helm and lead the way to discover the changes you're seeking. You do this by following your current life issues to their root source - through dreams, inner child work, and regression - and heal at the core to avoid recurrences of the presenting problem.
In a Depth Hypnosis session, we discuss issues you'd like to work on and the effect they have on your life. With this info, we go into an altered, meditative state and get under the surface of the possible cause of the problem. Think of this as a deep state where you are fully conscious and aware, but your busy mind is taking a well-deserved rest for you to work on the subconscious or the innermost level.
Depth Hypnosis avoids talking at length about the trauma and cuts to the chase to allow the healing to occur much quicker. A committed client can expect to see a shift within 3-5 sessions. Because Depth Hypnosis is a process that continually opens doors to the deeper areas of the self, many people continue the work as an anchor for spiritual inquiry.
The result of Depth Hypnosis is transformational. You neutralize the friction in your life by harmonizing your inner world with your outer world so that you move forward more whole and alive. Here's how that looks...
Applied Shamanism and Shamanic Counseling
Shamanism is ancient Earth-based wisdom unique across indigenous cultures and belongs to those cultures. So, Applied Shamanism respectfully utilizes certain shamanic practices found in most cultures in a practical and adapted way relevant to today.
I use Applied Shamanism in a therapeutic context with modesty and respect to help heal. The processes may include Shamanic journeys, soul retrievals, power retrievals, space clearings, and drum healings.
Applied Shamanic Counseling is an entry into the Shamanic journey. The sessions also leverage dream interpretation to deepen your insights. So combined, you renew your relationship with your inner psyche as you tap into your inherent wisdom for guidance and clarity.
Some of the transformational benefits of Applied Shamanic counseling and shamanic processes (often integrated with Depth Hypnosis sessions) include:
Stories
I'll share a couple of experiences from my client practice to help further ground this healing modality for you.
A client named, shall we say, Ella was experiencing crippling self-doubt and had a highly critical inner voice. She shared that deep down, she believed she didn't deserve good things. Ella was looking for help to get through these blocks. We looked at one of her recent dreams. It reminded her of a situation she's currently experiencing where she felt alone. She commented that she didn't deserve a good 'normal' life and felt energetically and physically depleted. Ella expanded that she has a hyperactive inner critic who tells her that she's unable to experience the good she brings into this world. As a result, Ella experiences tremendous self-doubt. Side Note: In a previous session, we identified Ella's inner critic as the "voice of her mom" and did some work there. With that knowing, I asked if she thinks she may have some of her mom's energy within her energy field? Ella gave a firm, "Yes!". I ask Ella if maybe her mom may have some of Ella's energy within her field. Ella says, "Ummm, probably." I ask Ella if she would like to return her mom's energy to her and retrieve her own energy from her mom. Ella agrees, yet unsure she can do this since she's feeling empty and drained. Then asks, "Can you do it? I really don't think I'm in a place to do this right now." I explain that I can, but I offer that she may find it empowering if she does it with my guidance and grounding. Ella preferred I do it. I worked with my guides on a soul part exchange then led her into a guided meditation to further integrate her returned soul parts. A couple of weeks later, Ella shared that she had seen tremendous changes. At first, they were small, and she didn't really notice them. But when she looked back over the last several weeks, she realized how far she had come and how the old ways of getting stuck weren't happening.
Another example is a client we'll call Jen. Jen was feeling lost in life and seeking clarity and purpose. By looking at her dreams and using insight inquiry, she noted that a part of her was offensive and labeled her a "bad person." She believed this, which made her feel lost with this dark feeling. We went in on the feeling that she's a terrible person to look at these inward attacks on herself. She went to a past life a few hundred years ago, where she was a 9-year-old girl. She was hiding under a pew as she was being shamed by a man on the altar. She wanted to be there but was cast out as an example. She feels like a horrible person and looking for solace as she's being made to leave. Fast forwarded to the moment of her death in this past life, she's alone in a shack. She's a prostitute and has been ill for 20 years. She feels nobody cares. We bridge that moment to a time in *this* lifetime where she experienced this same sadness from being shamed and feeling alone. Jen was brought to a time as a little girl and played too long with neighbor friends that she had an accident and wet herself. She recalls a strong desire to play so much that she held back from leaving this playful state to relieve herself. Jen described that desire akin to a spell of just wanting to play - at the cost of being embarrassed by this bio accident. She can relate this spell-like feeling to a recent journey she had which provided even more clarity and understanding for her on the insights of that journey. Jen returns to this age regression as a small child and sees the importance of self-care. She observes the importance of taking care of her physical body while she holds and lives with the deep desire to play. Doing this prevents her from falling into that feeling of embarrassment. When she returns to the room, Jen shares how shame is a pattern of hers. And through her ongoing work, she can now speak about this more comfortably. She hopes that by being open about it - she'll inspire others suffering in shame to seek and access help.
In both experiences, the client neutralized the friction in her life by harmonizing her inner world with her outer world to move forward more whole and alive.
What Depth Hypnosis Means to Me
As I wrap this episode up, I'll share what Depth Hypnosis means to me - not as a means for me to project my beliefs or understanding onto you. Instead, it's intended to help you uncover your own beliefs, your own thoughts, your own teachings of what life is and what life is all about. It's an invitation to find your true nature.

And, I'll leave you with that… See you in the next episode.
