Erica

Stephanie, I'm delighted to have you on my podcast. It seems like only yesterday when we first spoke. I've eagerly awaited our chat, and I'm thrilled to introduce you to my listeners. For those unfamiliar with Stephanie, here's a brief overview.

From the moment we met, I sensed an aura of magic and excitement around you, which aligns perfectly with your work. You guide women to rediscover their innate magic, teaching them to listen to their hearts. By doing so, they gain the courage to embrace new perspectives and try unique, fun-filled methods to enrich their lives.

Stephanie

Thank you, Erica, for the warm introduction. Some say I have a sparkly pink aura, which I'll gladly accept, though I'm no expert on auras. It does resonate with me, so I appreciate it.

Erica

Absolutely! What I've been eager to delve into is the concept of self-permission. Often, we look externally for validation, whether to define our identity or assign roles to ourselves based on life's circumstances. However, real empowerment arises when we grant ourselves that permission. In shamanic practices, it's termed "power retrieval", which involves connecting with and trusting our inner voice.

Stephanie

"Power retrieval" is a compelling term. It signifies reclaiming one's essence. Throughout life, societal norms often dictate our actions. While adhering to rules is fine, it's essential to discern which ones to challenge or adjust to maintain authenticity. The goal is to embrace our full potential rather than a watered-down version.

Erica

Your analogy of a "permission slip" is insightful. While some might find the concept of "power retrieval" daunting, the idea of a permission slip is relatable and friendly. Can you recall a pivotal moment when you gave yourself that essential permission?

Stephanie

Indeed, it arose out of necessity. On the surface, I had a typical life with a loving family and stable career, but something felt amiss. After the birth of my second child, I sought deeper meaning. While I achieved the conventional milestones, I yearned for more. My quest began with Julia Cameron's "Artist's Way", which introduced me to a liberating form of journaling, helping me articulate my feelings.

Erica

Ah, "The Artist's Way"! It's a personal favorite. Over time, I've drifted from and returned to its teachings, offering myself grace throughout. The journaling prompts often led to surprising revelations, urging me to re-evaluate my inner beliefs.

Stephanie

Exactly. Cameron's approach encourages introspection, allowing for self-expression without overthinking. It was my sanctuary, especially amidst the responsibilities of being a wife, mother, and dedicated employee.

Erica

And where did this newfound self-awareness lead you?

Stephanie

It prompted deeper exploration. Acknowledging my unique traits, such as my empathy and sensitivity, I recognized my strengths. Instead of viewing myself as flawed, I learned to harness my innate abilities, ensuring they served me positively. Clear communication with my loved ones about my needs became vital.

Erica

Your journey is a testament that transformative change needn't upend one's life. By granting yourself permission, you uncovered profound truths and altered your path. So, after giving yourself this freedom, what other revelations emerged?

Stephanie

Diving deeper into introspection, I felt compelled to share my insights. While sporadic with my journaling, a significant revelation occurred during one session. As a natural peace-seeker, I realized my mission extended beyond personal peace; I aimed to impact the world. Recognizing my entrepreneurial roots, I ventured into establishing my own business, advocating for self-awareness as a means to enhance one's life.

Erica

Your journey is profound. Granting oneself permission isn't a one-off act but an evolving process, adapting to life's ever-changing scenarios.

Stephanie

Absolutely. Confronting and overcoming personal barriers is ongoing. However, with greater clarity and self-awareness, these challenges become stepping stones, propelling us toward growth.

Erica

Your insights are invaluable, and I'm sure our listeners will benefit immensely. Before we wrap up, could you share where our audience can connect with you?

Stephanie

Of course! You can find my writings and insights on my website, fireflyscout.com. I'm also occasionally active on Instagram @FireflyScout.

Erica

Thank you, Stephanie. It's been enlightening, and I look forward to future discussions.

Stephanie
